New Project In Process....

Happy Thursday, is everyone getting ready for the long weekend?  I have been working on a new project and it is not quite finished but I thought I would share what I have done so far.  I used the Graphic 45 paper collection Magic of Oz again.  The picture is not the greatest because the lighting was kinda weird in my store and I took this one with my phone.  But, I wanted to share it with you so I hope you don't mind.  I don't really want to tell you what the whole project is just yet, but I will very soon :)

I hope you like it so far.  Also, I wanted to share with you that the "Reflections of Days Gone By" project made it into the Graphic 45 Gallery so I was pretty happy about that. :)  Thanks for stopping by today, & happy crafting.

Reflections Of Days Gone By....

A couple of really neat ladies asked me to design something for the Rockport Art Festival's Auction that will be happening next weekend.  The theme the Art Festival requested was "Reflections", most people that submitted art work interpreted that to mean mirrors and used them in their art.  I took it in a whole different direction.
Remember when you were a kid and you watched the Wizard Of Oz how magical it all seemed to us back then, and who could forget the beautiful Judy Garland.  Hmmmm....those were the good old days.  The Days before HDTV lol, the film starts out in black and white and then goes to color after the tornado passes and Dorthy finds herself in OZ.  That's how my idea formed for this project.
I used Graphic 45's new paper line the Magic of Oz.  Took a paper suitcase and painted it white, trimmed it all out with the gingham looking blue paper that can be found in the paper collection.  I wanted it to resemble Dorthy's dress & lets not forget those ruby red slippers.  Which I mimicked with a red sequin trim and a glitter red paper.  I used the paper with the yellow brick road on it and fussy cut out all of the characters and layered them up on foam adhesive.  I really wanted the focal point to be Judy Garland aka "Dorthy" since the theme was reflections of days gone by so I printed a picture out of her in black and white and layered her over the color image found on the paper in the collection, to re-create the film turning from black and white to color.  I framed her out in a little heart frame I found that I fell in love with because it looked just like the "heart" the Tin Man needed.  I lined the inside of the box with a matching blue felt and tied a little piece of blue gingham onto the handle.
I will do a video of it in the next few days if you would like to see the inside as well.   I hope you like it and it triggers some fond childhood memories.  =)  Thanks for stopping by today, have a great weekend.

Altered Dress Form Pin Cushion

Happy Friday fellow crafters!  Here's a little dress form pin cushion I altered today.  I added some blue toule around the waist of the dressforma and covered it with a white satin.  Trimmed it out with light blue lace and ric rac, ran it through a blinged out buckle.  I also added some pearls around the neck to complete her look. This was a fun and easy project.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Have a great weekend.

A Little Layout Using Gauche Alchemy Products

I just finished this little layout of my sons first airplane ride.  I used Gauche Alchemy Ephemera to give the layout some texture and dimension.  It has a look of vintage crossed with a little modern I think.  I used the blah blah blah sticky note from them above the picture of my son with the headphones on, I think that is what kids think when we are talking to them lol.  My kit just so happened to have an old text book page with a poem about a Jet Plane so I cut that out and added a distressed photo frame from Tattered Angels to highlight the title.   Also included in my kit was a textbook page with images of birds so I fussy cut out the bird and and attached it next to the poem because it referenced a bird on a bough.  The letters were just some mismatched stuff I had laying around.  Attached a few tiny staples to hold the playing card and corrugated cardboard in place and wahlah, the finished project.  Hope you enjoyed it thanks for stopping by today.

Vintage Street Market Inspiration

So, there have been several questions about the Vintage Street Market Line about the papers being so big.  Here is just a little altered cigar box I made using the Dimestore Vouge Collection.  The papers are really big but are really not a big deal to cut down.  Here I fussy cut out the ladies on one of the papers and layered them on top of the dressform paper and the checkered blue pattern.  Decorated it with some lace, flowers and a tiny sewing kit.  Hope you like it and it gives you some inspiration to create something with this fun line.  The possibilities are endless. :)

Happy Scrappin'
